At the heart of Culinary Institute of the South’s mission will be the school itself, opening in the fall of 2021. At 26,000 square feet, the facility will feature six academic classrooms, two teaching kitchens, two baking labs, a lecture theater and a teaching restaurant that will be open to the public. TCL names Foodseum

The Culinary Institute of the South at Technical College of the Lowcountry, set to open fall 2021, will now also house the Foodseum, an interactive museum experience dedicated to Southern food.
“The Foodseum will be the first of its kind in the South and will attract residents and tourists alike to discover the area’s rich food heritage,” TCL President Dr. Richard Gough said.
Its Bluffton location sits perfectly between Charleston, S.C., and Savannah, Ga., two of the most popular Southern cities in America. The Foodseum will showcase immersive educational exhibits, tasting events, guest lecturers and chefs, and hands-on seminars.

Culinary Institute of the South Breaks Ground
October 2019
Technical College of the Lowcountry hosted its groundbreaking ceremony for the Culinary Institute of the South on Tuesday, October 15 onsite at Buckwalter Place in Bluffton. Crowds of supporters from state and local legislators to future students gathered under a large white tent to celebrate the occasion.
“This is the community’s culinary school, an initiative that began almost four years ago,” TCL President Dr. Richard Gough said. “We are here today, in large part, due to the vision, leadership, and support of the Beaufort County Council, Beaufort County School District and the Town of Bluffton.”… Read more here.
