Six weeks to fast wages! This course will prepare students to sit for the CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) exam and go to work as a truck driver. Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers transport goods from one location to another. Most tractor-trailer drivers are long-haul drivers and operate trucks with a total weight exceeding 26,000 pounds for the vehicle, passengers, and cargo. These drivers deliver goods over inter-city routes that sometimes span several states.
160 Hours: 50 Hours Classroom / 50 Hours Range / 32 Hours Observation / 20 Hours Driving / 8 hours test review.
PREREQUISITES
To be accepted into the program:
- Students must be at least 18 years old.
Applicants must adhere to the terms and conditions specified in the TCL CDL Applicant Information and complete the DOT CDL Qualification Questionnaire, TCL CDL Student Contract, and the Consumer Report Disclosure and Release Form. Applicants must first complete all required paperwork before enrolling. Application packages will then be reviewed and approved by the Kozak Office of Workforce Development. Applicants are encourage to contact the Kozak Office of Workforce Development for assistance with the enrollment process. Contact information is below.
The program has been inspected, approved, and licensed by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles. All instructors meet the department’s standards and are certified by the DMV.

OTHER COST
Students who fail to pass the licensing certification exam may be charged a $250 retesting fee.
ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to arrive on time and participate in course discussions and activities. Successful completion of the course of study recommends 100% attendance. If during the course period the student’s attendance level drops below 80%, they will be encouraged and given the opportunity to attend the next scheduled class for the course they enrolled in. Should materials change, student is responsible for all additional cost.
STUDENT CONDUCT
All students are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly and professional manner. Any student not conducting themselves in an orderly and professional manner may be dismissed from classes and will not be able to complete the course. Disorderly and unprofessional behaviors include but are not limited to use of drugs and alcohol during school hours, dishonesty, disrupting classes, use of profanity, excessive tardiness, insubordination, violation of safety rules, improper usage of course materials, equipment or facilities, or not abiding by the school rules.
